Christmas Fun in Reepham

We gathered in the spruced up and beautifully decorated Town hall , as usual for our Christmas meeting, as always a social event. Many thanks to our chairman and committee for organising such a hilarious evening. The generosity of all members meant  plenty of food, and the chance to sample ten different sorts of sausage roll, and yes I tried them all!

There was a 'lucky dip' and for only fifty pence I was able to 'choose', luckily, some gorgeous crucuses. Some other people found, that 'luckily' they too could choose just what they wanted!

The raffle was full of excellent prizes, and I won a vegetable peeler, from Lakeland, which is so sharp that I have had to deliiver my husband to casualty twice already as he was ill prepared for such sharpness while preparing my cucumber sandwiches.

The 'entertainment', a departure for us, was terrific. We none of us had a clue what to expect. The Dereham U3A Drama Workshop charmed us with their half hour entertainment. It was a miscellany of Words and Music with a Horticultural theme. It was cleverly put together, sharply performed, witty and and certainly made me laugh all the way through! We were reminded of Dorothy Parker's comment that 'you can take a whore to culture, but you can't make her think', and reference made to a picture of Spring conjured up with the 'cooing of birds in Spring, and the contented cooing of osteopaths when gardeners pick up their spades', ( we all know that feeling, needing an osteopath I mean, not being one, though of course you might be one, but I am not).
