ANOTHER GOOD MEETING

Well there are always surprises, and from expecting a talk on the regeneration of Holkolm Hall walled garden we were thrust instead deep into a Norfolk Wood, Swanton Novers near Holt. O no , I thought  more pics of pretty trees and sweet squirrels, but no it was all fascinating, and the photograghs, as they slid into each other and glided over the screen were stunning to say the least, and drew gasps from the audience ( I am reminded of a very unmemorable talk by the representatives of Norwich in Bloom when we the audience were gently admonished for not gasping at a particular image of some formal park planting, some of us were giggling at the back at the strange pink dresses of the  officials in the photos! ) So that everyone seemed to enjoy it and several people said they would love to see all the pictures again. I have to say that though they were exceptional there were rather a lot, and the speakers voice, after the first three hours did flatten a little. And thinking about squirrels, of which there were NO photos, I will just mention that I think the impetus to encourage us to eat squirrel is an excellent one. It is one way in which these too numerous creatures might be brought under some control. I did in fact buy some oven ready squirrel in Holt a few weeks ago. It is in the freezer. I havn't plucked up courage to cook and eat it yet. I was told that it wouldn't need much cooking and would taste a little like partridge, so thats two good reasons to try it, I will do so soon. Promise. Have you tried it ? I would be interested to hear of squirrel eating experience first hand.
